The colony of grey herons which lives 50 kilometers from the center of Ulyanovsk Oblast is one of the largest found on the Volga. One of the most interesting peculiarities noted thus far by grey heron observers can be witnessed in June, when baby herons appear. By the middle of the first summer month, when these baby birds are two to three weeks old, the flock suddenly seems to come to life. RTG TV host Andrey Ivanov monitored how the herons hunted and protected their nestlings from predatory birds.
