Passion for skating in Kolomna developed as early as in 30s of the past century, and it was in 60s that Kolomna sportsmen performed triumphantly on international contests. Earlier young skaters had had to train on bumpy ice of Kolomenka river, but one of the most modern skating centre opened in 2006 in the city that is the first on speed rates among all plain skating-rinks. 11 European records were set up here due to cutting-edge technologies applied in Kolomna Skating Centre for production of super slippery ice.
