The bison is one of the oldest animals on the planet. Its image can be found in the cave drawings of primitive people almost as often as that of horses. Bison once lived on the territory from the Pyrenees all the way to Western Siberia. Unfortunately however, by the beginning of the 20th century they had almost completely disappeared from the face of the earth. Nowadays one of the few places where these rare and powerful creatures can be found is the Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve, where the animals are bred in order to help restore the population.
