St. Petersburg’s historical center requires the careful attention and treatment of builders in order to maintain its unique and beautiful look. No less important than the center and its supreme architectural masterpieces, however, is the preservation of that which was not made by man. Vyacheslav Belyakov works in building construction, maintenance and repair in St. Petersburg. 130 kilometers outside of the city he is developing a project that doesn’t guarantee any profits. In the lowly populated areas on the Karelian Isthmus, near the small town of Melnikovo, he is building a small settlement whose main purpose is to preserve the environment. This original private nature reserve is featured in a new RTG TV program.
