Ust-Vym Folklore Festival

With a population of less than a thousand, the village of Ust-Vym may not be one of the biggest settlements, but it is one of the oldest. The first mentions of the village are from 1380, when events led to Ust-Vym being named the capital of the Komi region – a move that forever altered the lives of an entire people. Members of this group could all be associated with one person – Saint Stephan of Perm. Nowadays many people have begun to remember and revisit Ust-Vym’s rich history. One way of doing so is through festivals. Every year those that live in the region come together to put on the Ray of Ust-Vym folklore festival, attracting tourists to the area from near and far.
