Troitsk Ethnographic Village

It is the rural and difficult to reach parts of the Komi Republic that serve as a real mecca for hunters, fishermen and tourists. Natural havens practically undisturbed by civilisation can even be found right near the republic’s capital city of Syktyvkar. Here live people that follow the traditional existence that their ancestors did before them hundreds of years ago. These inhabitants of the village of Troitsk live in the Kortkerossky District of the Komi Republic. The village itself resembles a type of open-air museum. Here there are many old barns and most people live in traditional Komi huts in which the residential and chore areas are located under one roof. In Troitsk there are no fences around the houses, nor locks on the doors. In this quaint village there are no petty thieves or other pests such as rodents that tend follow mankind wherever they go. However there are plenty of other creatures right next door living in the dense forests and fresh, flowing rivers. Tune in to RTG TV’s new film to take a look at fishing on the Nivshera River, learn how to make the traditional «cheri nyan» fish pirog and watch the village folkloric ensemble «Zemlyanichki» (wild strawberries) perform.
