In the opinion of scientists, bears are the most intelligent and strongest of predators. They learn and grow over the entire course of their lives, right up until they pass away. The highest density of brown bears in the world is to be found on the Kamchatka Peninsula, where there are about 16,000 brown bears. They're excellent hunters, both on land and in the water, gathering during the salmon's spawning period on the shores of rivers and lakes. They also gather on the shores of Lake Kurile, the largest blueback spawning water body in the world. In some years, up to 10 million salmon of this type come here to spawn.
