Monastery Cuisine of the Russian North

Monks have always been considered skilful cookers in Rus'. They created thousands of simple, but delicious and nourishing dishes. Lots of recipes are kept in Vologodchina, in Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery. It was there that presenter Igor Vukolov learnt features of monastery cuisine. Together with novice Alexy he cooked lentil and pumpkin porridge, roast pike with potato, vegetable caviar and pumpkin compote.
