Just as it did hundreds of years ago, Tyumen Oblast continues to draw people to it, offering people the opportunity to familiarize themselves with both historical and cultural monuments and picturesque landscapes. It is here as well that some surprising trades have been preserved; Tyumen bone carvers create real masterpieces from mammoth tusks. In the small town of Ishim, skilled weavers make Siberian carpets using ancient techniques. Tyumen, the main city in the region, is legally considered to be the first Russian city in Siberia and is the place from which, in the 16th century, well-known explorers set out to acquire new lands. This territory, which was at one point unknown to many, over time developed into a special area. On this territory, fortunately, one continues to feel the freedom and boundlessness that were present many years ago.
