The Nature of the North Caucasus

The North Caucasus is a rock massif located between the Black Sea and Pre-Caspian lowland. This is an amazing region of deep canyons, green double valleys and magnificent unique mountains like nothing on Earth. There are mountain ranges as a result of weathering and look like sculptures of strange forms with caves and grottos. Moreover, there are laccoliths, the so-called failed volcanoes. They are formed when hot lava pierces through earth stratum and having outcropped it drags away sedimentary rocks. The Pearl of the North Caucasus is considered to be the valley Arkhyz. Lots of lakes and waterfalls, intricate rocks, forests, glaciers, mountains, no wonder that it's called alpine heaven on the Earth. Since olden times Arkhyz has been famous for its perfect mountain medical climate. The matter is Arkhyz kettle is defended from all sides with high mountain ridges. They prevent the valley from bad weather conditions. The presenter Igor Maximenko visited Arkhyz canyons, climbed the Herdsman Mountain, where there's an astronomical physical observatory and sacrificed slumber to meet sunrise on the plateau Bermamyt where there's a panoramic view on the highest peak of Europe Mount Elbrus.
