One of the key symbols of the Republic of Bashkortostan is Bashkir honey. Bashkiria is a bee-keeping region. Nobody knows for certain when it first arose, but cave-paintings found in the Urals tell us that primitive man used to seek honey. Today, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a Scientific-Research Institute of Bee-Keeping and Apia-therapy has been created. It comprises 5 experimental apiaries, scientific labs, a facility for the production and processing of bee products and a folk medicine center. One of the Institute’s main goals is to preserve the genetic fund of the unique Bashkir bee. RTG TV host Stanislav Salnikov explores the world of bee-keeping, finds out about the laws that bees live to, and the specific characteristics of the Bashkir bee. He also finds out how bees sting, and how those stings can be good for you.
